Peraves Monotracer’s “Cabin’s bike” powered by BMW engine

The $82,350 glass/kevlar/carbon/steel MonoTracer bike certainly feels like it’s from the Utopian, roundmobile world to come. Featuring a fully enclosed cabin for less drag and less pebbles in the face, the MonoTracer’s 130hp BMW engine goes 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and hits speeds up to 155mph.

We’re not exactly sure what you’ll do at stoplights, but apparently there are little training wheels that pop out for parking…a solution that’s admittedly not much more suave than toppling over at every stop.

Sure this Monotracer has some innovative touches but it’s not the first one and it’s hardly possible that people would prefer bikes like this instead of standard ones.

    @ Minas
Nobody ever said it’s the first one. They’ve made some 90 Ecomobiles before.
A Monotracer is not a bike. Take a bike and an airplane and let them make love. The result would be a sweet Monotracer.

Strange looking…. and what’s that small wheel(?) sticking out each side? Is that to stop you falling right over and destroying the paneling?

This is really slick looking. I would totally rent this for a day and drive around in it. However, I don’t think I would want this as a permanent vehicle. I like how when you ride bike/motorcylces you get the feel the wind and experience the outdoors. I do think this is more practical because you are safe in the rain, but it would be even cooler if you could pop the top or retract it so that you could get the outside feeling. Nice article.
