   Those giant holes in the river look similar to holes in the Channeled Scablands of North America. They’re caused by underwater vortexes (like tornados) created from massive floods (think water speeds fast enough to move a rock the size of a two story house).

   It’s Caño Cristales, in Colombia, South America. Everybody should know this place, and care of ot. Maybe that way the human race could realize how important is the water for the world

   It is indeed La Sierra de la Macarena in Colombia. It’s a sanctuary for Biology students in Colombia.

   Indeed it is the most beautiful river in the world,from the pictures it can only be a dream come true! It looks like heaven on earth.If for the rest of my life I got an opportunity to visit the place .there would be regret for beauty for beauty is within my heart!.

   To an environment profesional it nice to look at it but it is call pollution . if it is flower it will decay and bad for water sources.

   if you know the place please ask the Government “Clean up !”

    After several people commented that it was Caño Cristales, why don’t you do a little research and see that it is in fact a river that is so pollution free, it is clear enough to see the algae that grow on the bottom which are naturally of 5 distinct colors and is what makes the river so beautiful. With a little more research, you would also find out that ground water in Colombia is some of the purest in the world due to its origins in the marshes and the minerals in the soil through which water passes through that purifies it. This pure and uncontaminated water is what allows for this magnificent phenomenon to occur.

    This is only another example of the many beauties Colombia has to offer that is completely over-shadowed by peoples ignorance and belief that Colombia has nothing more to offer than all the negative and exaggerated stories told by the press.

    Being a Colombian who is living in Malaysia, I understand that there isn’t much information at all about Colombia that makes it here, but for an “environment profesional” I would at very LEAST expect a google search.
    As general future advice, please inform yourself before posting any comments.
